SCTE·ISBE leads the way in standards and certifications for the cable industry. It also serves as an outlet for networking, coursework, and sharing industry expertise. The board includes companies like Comcast and Charter Communications, so the client was looking to provide maximum value from the products and services it offers. Unfortunately, they were rapidly losing ground to competitors due to poor CX and technical debt. However, SCTE owned a huge online course catalog, thousands of pieces of technical documentation, and a deep library of established industry standards.
Digging into the analytics made it obvious that the most major issue facing the client was ease of use. The new website UX was designed around a flexible technical search process that helped users find the content they were looking for in roughly 1/3 of the time of the previous site. I also helped SCTE design end-to-end experiences for its LMS, employee performance dashboards for its clients’ managers, and a transcript app that allows individual employees to track coursework, certification paths, and related scores. The result was a substantial increase in the revenue generated from these programs.
